Don Allen and Tom Brashler collectively have more than 60 years of real estate experience spanning all facets of the acquisition, development, operation, disposition and capitalization of real estate. It is this breadth of knowledge and experience that allows Monroe to be successful in ever-changing economic conditions.
Don has extensive experience acquiring, developing, financing and selling real estate. He is skilled in recognizing attractive real estate opportunities and implementing the steps necessary to make each project a success.
Before forming Monroe, Don spent 15 years in commercial real estate acquisition, sales and development at firms that include Hiffman Shafer Associates, Inc.; Colliers, Bennett & Kahnweiler; Rubloff, Inc.; and VMS Realty Partners.
Don holds an MBA from Columbia University with concentrations in real estate and finance and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Dear friend, loyal partner, dedicated professional and a man of tremendous character. Known for his erudition, Tom loved his work, delighted in a good meal, and relished a great joke. He is missed every day.
Prior to joining Monroe in 2017 Howard served as the Chief Financial Officer of Valeant Pharmaceuticals, a global specialty pharmaceutical company, from December 2011 to June 2015 and served on the Board of Directors of the Company until June 2016. He also served as interim Chief Executive Officer in January and February 2016. Schiller joined Valeant following a 24-year career at Goldman Sachs, a global investment banking firm. From 2009 to 2010, Schiller was the chief operating officer for the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, responsible for the management and strategy of the business. From 2003 to 2009, he was responsible for the global healthcare, consumer products, retail, industrial and natural resource businesses in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs. During his 24 years at Goldman Sachs, he advised large multinational companies on strategic transactions, financings, restructuring and leveraged buyouts. Howard holds a BS from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from the Graduate School of Law at the University of Chicago.
Alison joined Monroe in 2015 as Monroe’s Chief Financial Officer. Alison’s nearly 10 years of banking experience has enabled Monroe to streamline its financing and operating efficiencies. Prior to Monroe, Alison was a Managing Director in the Institutional Real Estate Division of The PrivateBank in Chicago. She started her career at LaSalle Bank where she completed their Commercial Banking Development Program. Alison holds a BS in Finance and Real Estate from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
